Agents First explores the company’s history and agent-focused culture

In celebration of its 50th year in business, Long & Foster Real Estate has published an official anniversary book. Produced in collaboration with Washingtonian Custom Media, “Agents First: Trust, Family and Excellence Since 1968” honors the company’s past, while looking toward its future. The 116-page book documents Long & Foster’s first 50 years in the real estate and financial services business, highlighting the company’s agent-focused culture.

“What Wes Foster built at Long & Foster is unmatched in the industry, and ‘Agents First’ pays tribute to his accomplishments, as well as those of many of the agents and employees who call Long & Foster their home,” said Jeffrey Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Wes’s philosophy of putting people first enabled our team to achieve tremendous success in the past 50 years, and it will continue to guide us for the next 50 years.”

The anniversary book recognizes the milestones Long & Foster has achieved since its founding in 1968, from the opening of its first office in Fairfax, Virginia, to its 2017 acquisition by Berkshire Hathaway affiliate HomeServices of America. ‘Agents First’ highlights the many ways in which Long & Foster’s business lines—from real estate and vacation rentals to mortgage and insurance—work together to help buyers and sellers on their journeys home.

The book also features individual stories of several Long & Foster’s agents and employees, who have helped shape the company into what it is today. Their profiles talk about their careers and explain why they chose to work with Long & Foster. Each of their stories is different, but they display a common theme—that Long & Foster puts its agents, and its people, first.
