Long & Foster and Prosperity Donate $20K to Baltimore Development Corporation

Contribution to support the Baltimore Business Recovery Fund

Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest family-owned residential real estate company in the United States, and Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, a full service mortgage banker and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Long & Foster Companies, donated $20,000 to the Baltimore Development Corporation. Each company contributed $10,000 to support the local nonprofit’s Baltimore Business Recovery Fund.

“Since our founding in 1968, Long & Foster has been committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and COO of The Long & Foster Companies. “We are honored to support the City of Baltimore and its residents and business owners, and we look forward to helping grow an even stronger and more vibrant community.”

William H. Cole, president and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corporation, shared his appreciation for the contributions.

“We are grateful and encouraged by the support from the business community and this generous donation by Long & Foster,” said Cole. “The Baltimore Business Recovery Fund is the only one dedicated to helping the businesses, which suffered property damage and inventory loss during the recent unrest. Getting these businesses reopened and operating at full capacity is vital to the community in which they serve and to the health of the City’s economy.”

Long & Foster currently operates four offices within the City of Baltimore, as well as numerous locations in the surrounding counties, and it ranks as the No. 1 brokerage in Baltimore, as based on the percent of homes bought and sold. Prosperity Home Mortgage, similarly, operates throughout the Baltimore region and is a leading lender in the area.

“At Long & Foster, we know how important homeownership is to any community. Local businesses flourish when homeownership is at its core value,” said Cindy Ariosa, senior vice president and regional manager of Long & Foster’s Baltimore region. “We want to support the very communities that we make our living from, so this is a way to give back and show our support for the families and businesses in Baltimore.”

Randy Krout, president of Prosperity, echoed Ariosa’s thoughts. “Prosperity is in the business of financing homeownership and the American Dream, and Baltimore is the cornerstone of our business,” Krout said. “Our employees both live and work here, and we are very excited about being part of rebuilding the very community we are privileged to serve.”
