Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent family-owned residential real estate company in the United States, has named Eric Hung-Ming Chen as Director of Asia Pacific Initiatives for its Corporate Real Estate Services division. Chen, who joined Long & Foster as a real estate agent in 2014, brings to the firm a wealth of business development and sales experience in both the United States and Asia. That background provides him the knowledge and expertise necessary to develop Long & Foster’s presence in the Asia Pacific market.

“I’m thrilled to take on this new role with the Long & Foster team, and I look forward to leading our efforts to expand the company’s reach and build our brand in Asia,” said Chen. “With the backing of Long & Foster’s Corporate Real Estate Services team, as well as my knowledge of the Asia Pacific market, I’m confident we will achieve tremendous success in growing our global presence and even better support buyers and sellers from around the world.”

Chen most recently served as a consultant with an international business development firm based in Arlington, Va. In that role, he focused on building business opportunities between Chinese and American companies. He counseled U.S. clients on Chinese business protocols, ensuring successful communication and negotiation between the two, and he advised Chinese companies on strategies to gain and grow a presence in the United States.

Prior to that, Chen served as vice president of business development for a start-up company in the agricultural industry. He led the firm’s Chinese investment efforts, negotiating and strengthening business relationships with current and potential investors. He also worked in management for an office supply company based in Taiwan for many years. In that position, Chen developed corporate partnerships throughout Asia and oversaw sales and pricing strategies, among other activities.

“With Eric’s expansive knowledge of the Asia Pacific market, as well as his background in both business development and real estate sales, I’m confident Long & Foster is well positioned for success in the thriving Asia Pacific market,” said Pandra Richie, president Long & Foster’s Corporate Real Estate Services. “I am excited to welcome him to our Long & Foster family, and I look forward to working with him in expanding our corporate reach around the globe.”
