Scholarships cover costs of pre-licensing real estate courses with Long & Foster

Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 independent brand*, announced today the launch of a new scholarship program for furloughed government employees. The program enables furloughed government employees to kick-start a career in real estate by taking the required pre-licensing classes at no cost. Scholarships cover tuition for the classes necessary to sit for the real estate licensing exam in the applicant’s state, as well as the cost of textbooks.

All furloughed federal employees are eligible for this scholarship opportunity. To apply, individuals are encouraged to speak to the manager of any of Long & Foster’s more than 200 offices. Applicants need only provide proof of eligibility in the form of government-issued employee identification. Long & Foster’s branch managers will provide guidance on the course location and class dates offered.

Courses are offered at Long & Foster’s Institute of Real Estate at many locations throughout New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia and at the Foster Real Estate School in Pennsylvania. Once the class has been successfully completed, participants will be eligible to take the real estate licensure test required by their state. The scholarship, funded by Long & Foster Real Estate, is available for in-person and online classes.

The scholarship program is anticipated to be funded until the end of the government shutdown. Participants in the program are neither required nor guaranteed to become a licensed real estate agent with Long & Foster.
