Premier real estate company recognized for ‘best anniversary program’

Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 real estate firm*, has been selected by PRNEWS as a finalist for its 2019 Platinum Awards. Each year, PRNEWS recognizes companies for their outstanding achievements in communications and marketing and presents them with awards in several categories.

Long & Foster was selected as a finalist in the ‘Anniversary’ category for its campaign to celebrate the real estate brokerage’s 50th anniversary. In this award category, PRNEWS takes a look at the best anniversary programs, events or activities that take place for a day, week or over the course of a year. According to PRNEWS, “the Platinum PR Awards finalists represent the innovative, risk-taking and strategic communicators setting the benchmark of excellence in the communications arena.”

In celebration of its 50th year in business, Long & Foster established a marketing and communications campaign that honored the company’s past, while looking toward its future. The plan was successfully executed thoughout 2018 and included the publishing of an anniversary book, a video, many blog articles and a social media campaign—all bringing Long & Foster’s history to life piece-by-piece.

The anniversary book recognized the milestones Long & Foster has achieved since its founding in 1968, from the opening of its first office in Fairfax, Virginia, to its 2017 acquisition by Berkshire Hathaway affiliate HomeServices of America. ‘Agents First’ highlighted the many ways in which Long & Foster’s business lines—from real estate and vacation rentals to mortgage and insurance—work together to help buyers and sellers on their journeys home. The book also featured individual stories of several Long & Foster’s agents and employees, who have helped shape the company into what it is today.

Much research was conducted to write the company’s popular anniversary year blog articles featuring a common theme of trends in all things housing over the past five decades. From popular paint colors to how kitchen, flooring, furniture, lighting and floor plans have changed from 1968 to 2018, the articles gave interesting insights to all readers.

“Long & Foster is honored that PRNEWS selected us as one of the finalists for this esteemed award,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies. “Our 50th year was a memorable one for our employees, our over 10,000 agents and the thousands of clients we’ve served over five decades and we are thrilled to be recognized among so many other talented marketing professionals.”

All finalists have been invited to the PRNEWS Platinum PR Awards Dinner Gala on September 17 in New York City. To view a full list of all 2019 Platinum PR Finalists, click here. For more information on Long & Foster, visit longandfoster.com.
