Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 privately owned residential real estate company, has appointed Martha Martinez as the branch manager of its Silver Spring/Colesville office in Silver Spring, Maryland. Martinez most recently led the Long & Foster team in Ft. Washington, Maryland, and brings over a decade of real estate experience to her new position.

“I look forward to this new opportunity and to leading the team of real estate professionals at our Silver Spring/Colesville office,” said Martinez. “Long & Foster is known for attracting high-caliber sales associates and clientele by providing the best and latest tools, technology and training, and I’m confident that with the strength of the Long & Foster brand, as well as my real estate expertise, our agents will continue to build their careers in real estate in Montgomery County and the greater D.C. area.”

Martinez earned her real estate license in 2006 and joined the Long & Foster College Park office as a dual agent, continuing to work her full-time healthcare job and selling real estate part-time. She started her real estate business with a focus on acquiring expired and withdrawn listings, and she achieved such success doing so that she resigned from her healthcare job after just 6 months in real estate.

Just one year into the business, Martinez earned recognition as “Rookie of the Year” at Long & Foster. Her exceptional knowledge of the business led to a new role with the company as a real estate trainer in 2007, and she began teaching novice agents about the business. When the real estate downturn began that same year, she found herself working in short sales and the experience opened the door for her to work with real estate owned properties as well as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

In 2012, Martinez received her brokers license and was chosen to be the assistant manager for Long & Foster’s Mitchellville office in 2014 before being chosen as the Ft. Washington, Maryland, branch manager in 2015. She has focused a great deal of time on training and learning to teacher her fellow Realtors to grow their careers and support their clients, including teaching courses through Long & Foster’s training programs.

Martinez holds brokers licenses in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Prior to her real estate career she worked in healthcare for 15 years in different capacities, including in human resources and management. She is a graduate of Montgomery College.

“Supporting today’s real estate sales professionals takes a highly knowledgeable and experienced leader,” said Larry “Boomer” Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate. “We are confident that appointing Martha to the leadership team at the Silver Spring/Colesville office will result in the synergy that our agents thrive on. This is how our company has continued to help local buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for more than 45 years.”
