Event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community

The One Loudoun, Great Falls, McLean, Leesburg and Purcellville offices of Long & Foster Real Estate participated in the company’s Community Service Day on June 5. These five offices in Northern Virginia joined the brokerage’s over 170 locations in the annual day of giving back by volunteering at Women Giving Back (WGB) in Sterling, Virginia.

The Long & Foster agents and office staff sorted clothing donations, which WGB uses to stock its store. The store is filled with donated clothing, shoes, accessories, and other essentials, and the nonprofit’s clients, both women and children, in need have an opportunity to shop at the store at no charge. Many of the nonprofit’s clients are living in shelters or part of transitional programs in and around the greater Washington area.

“We are a company full of agents that love to help people,” said Karen Kidwell, regional vice president of Long & Foster in Northern Virginia and West Virginia. “We not only help them find a home, but also love to help those in need in our community.”

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company participated in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. These activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Patrick Bain, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort.”
