Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for annual event

Thousands of Long & Foster Real Estates agents and employees throughout the mid-Atlantic, including those at the Great Falls, Leesburg, McLean, Middleburg, and Purcellville, Virginia offices, rolled up their sleeves on June 8 and took part in the company’s 25th annual Community Service Day.

Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 200 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.

Agents and staff members from Long & Foster’s Great Falls, Leesburg, McLean, Middleburg, and Purcellville offices as well as RGS Title and Prosperity Home Mortgage partners chose to volunteer with Women Giving Back (WGB), an organization that collects clothing, shoes and accessories for women and children in crisis.

These donations are provided at no charge, to ensure the people that WGB serves have the basic necessities. “Long & Foster agents donate to WGB throughout the year, and we wanted to help the organization further by also giving our time,” said Dave King, managing broker of the Leesburg, Middleburg and Purcellville offices. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and those who are most in need.”

Rachel Foster, managing broker of the McLean, Great Falls and McLean Elm sales offices, echoed King’s comments and added, “We worked side-by-side in their warehouse, sorting donations, tidying the store as people shopped and restocking afterward, to hopefully make the jobs of the staff of WGB a little easier.”

“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
