Theresa Nielson Named Managing Broker of Long & Foster’s Georgetown Office

September 20, 2016

Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 privately owned residential real estate company and the exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate in the greater D.C. area, has named Theresa Nielson as the managing broker of its Georgetown office in Washington, D.C. Nielson brings over 20 years of sales, management and marketing experience to her new position.

“I’m excited about this new opportunity and look forward to continuing to help my fellow agents provide best-in-class service to their clients, whether they’re buying a new condo downtown or selling their historic home,” Nielson said. “I know from experience the value of the Long & Foster brand and its many technology and marketing offerings, and I’m confident that with my support and everything that Long & Foster has to offer, our Georgetown office and agents will continue to achieve great success in real estate.”

Nielson joined the Long & Foster family as a real estate agent in 2003 and fast became a top producer, receiving many awards for her sales and customer service. Long & Foster’s leadership team recognized her passion for the business and for agent development, and she earned a promotion to sales manager at the company’s Foxhall office. There, she helped the location’s agents to build their businesses both in traditional and luxury real estate. Nielson moved to the Georgetown office in May 2016 as its sales manager, and since then, she has focused on helping their agents with marketing, business development and training.

Prior to her career at Long & Foster, Nielson worked in commercial and residential real estate development—much of it in the luxury market. The knowledge she gained through those experiences has greatly helped her and Long & Foster’s agents in the DC area, where redevelopment and new construction are on the rise.

“In today’s competitive market, it takes an immense amount of commitment, passion and knowledge to help real estate agents achieve success,” said Larry “Boomer” Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate. “We are confident that naming Theresa as manager of our Georgetown office will help us continue to do just that. This is how our firm has helped buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for nearly 50 years and how we’ll continue to do so in the years to come.”

Nielson earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, and she is a licensed broker in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Nielson also has received a number of real estate designations, including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), and Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI).

In her spare time, Nielson is active in her local community and real estate associations. She is a member of the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, and she has participated in various association committees over the years. Nielson also volunteers with the Girl Scouts, leading two troops and serving as Service Unit Manager for all troops in the Chevy Chase, Maryland, area.

When she is not working, Nielson enjoys traveling with her family, including her husband Adam and three kids, and spending time at the beach. For more information, visit www.LongandFoster.com.
