Long & Foster’s Triad Office to Host Community Service Day

Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community

The Triad office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 independent residential real estate brand, will participate in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day on June 6. The Triad office in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, will join the brokerage’s over 220 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering on June 6th at SECU Family House.

The SECU Family House provides affordable lodging and support services in a caring environment for referred adult patients and their caregivers who travel to Winston-Salem for medical treatment. On June 6th, we will be preparing an evening meal for 50-60 people and family members who have been sitting at the hospital all day. The Family House allows a respite from cramped hospital rooms. Rather than the sounds of a hospital, guests are enveloped by laughter and conversation that often surrounds a good meal. Desserts will also be served after dinner while they take a needed break from the hospital environment.

“In our community there are many ways to give back, however, this one is especially close to us because we have all had times in our lives where beloved family members have had to travel for medical care and we know how important this is to those not familiar with a specific area, said Heidi Eller, manager and broker-in-charge of the Triad office. “It provides them a nice, safe place to stay outside of the hospital environment.”

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
