Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s 20th annual Community Service Day this June. Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 220 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, including its headquarters in Chantilly, Virginia. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.

Long & Foster’s Shore Drive-Coastal office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, chose to volunteer with Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation (VBCDC) on June 14. The Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation has helped enhance and expand affordable housing opportunities as well as assist the city with neighborhood revitalization strategies since 1985.

On June 14, the agents, along with the office staff, spent the morning working to help garden at two separate VBCDC locations. The Shore Drive-Coastal office assisted with weeding, re-soiling and planting flowers in vertical gardens at the first of VBCDC’s neighborhoods, Cedar Grove Apartments, in Virginia Beach, then helped revitalize a second housing location between Wesleyan Drive and Newton Road. The office revamped the second location by revitalizing the apartment entryway landscaping with new mulch and flowers.

VBCDC is an award-winning 501(c) non-profit housing development corporation that currently owns and manages over 410 units of affordable rental-housing located throughout the city of Virginia Beach that serve low-to-moderate income families, individuals, elderly persons, veterans, homeless persons and persons with disabilities.

“It’s a blessing to help provide service to those in need and support affordable housing,” said Branch Administrator Amber Conrad.

“Our Long & Foster family gains a tremendous sense of personal satisfaction by contributing their time and effort to the local communities in which we live and work,” said Wesley Foster Jr., founder, chairman and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate.
