Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for 22nd annual event

Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Severna Park, Maryland office rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s 22nd annual Community Service Day on June 19.

Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 220 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.

The Severna Park office chose to volunteer with Serving People Across Neighborhoods (SPAN) on June 19.  SPAN is a food pantry and emergency services provider located in Severna Park that has been helping families and individuals in Severna Park, Millersville, and Arnold/Broadneck since 1990 with emergency situations such as hunger, utility turn-offs, court-ordered evictions, and prescription/medical needs. SPAN also serves secondary areas including Crofton, Crownsville, Odenton, Gambrills, Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Linthicum and Severn. In addition to donating nonperishable food and toiletries, the Severna Park office also collected a financial donation totaling $500.00 for SPAN.

“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
