Long & Foster Supports Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly, Va.

Staff to help spruce up local recreation center for the upcoming World Police and Fire Games

As part of its annual Community Service Day,The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate, will work to help beautify and repair the grounds at Cub Run RECenter on Monday, June 15. Employees from the company’s headquarters in Chantilly, Va., will work to remove dead bushes, plants and trees, plant new trees, edge and clean up the edges of walkways and sidewalks, fix damaged grass areas, re-mulch, as well as trim overgrown trees.

This is the 18th year that Long & Foster has held its Community Service Day, which allows the company’s employees and associates from its more than 180 sales offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions to give back to the many communities they serve. Across the company, teams will participate in a variety of volunteer activities, helping clean up local parks, refurbish and repair community centers, hosting food and clothing drives, and performing other tasks for local organizations that provide crucial services to the community.

The Cub Run RECenter serves as a local park and community center for the residents of Fairfax County – where Long & Foster was founded more than 47 years ago. Because of the harsh winter months, the park is in need of additional assistance on the grounds. The work is especially important this year because the Fairfax 2015 World Police and Fire Games will host a portion of their competition at Cub Run in late June, and the event may draw thousands of visitors to the park.

“We’re proud that our employees will be taking the time to help clean up Cub Run RECenter, where soon many first responders from across the globe will visit,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies, headquartered in Chantilly, Va. “Community Service Day is a long-standing demonstration of Long & Foster’s commitment to the communities we serve, and the employees at Long & Foster’s headquarters are thrilled to have the opportunity to support the Cub Run RECenter and our local residents in this important way.”
