Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States and a leader in the sale of luxury properties, has recently listed for sale a winery, located at 462 Winery Lane in Nellysford, Va. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering on the Rockfish River, the property is listed by Betty Aguilar, of Long & Foster’s Fishersville office, for $1.65 million.

“This family owned winery is a beautiful, special place, and offers a great business opportunity for someone who may be looking to join the industry,” said Aguilar. “The views surrounding the winery are truly magnificent, making for a location that’s hard to beat.”

The winery sits on more than 26 acres of land on the Nelson wine trail, surrounded by panoramic mountain views. The winery’s tasting room was built in 1900 and has been expanded upon to accommodate retail space as well as wine-making space. The main building also includes the barrel room, four bathrooms, a veranda and a picnic area.

Also included in the property is The Pavilion, which is brand new and has 3,200-square-feet of space idyllic for renting out for weddings, parties and other private events. Although the property doesn’t currently include a vineyard, there is ample space available to plant vines.

Virginia’s wine industry has seen a lot of growth in recent years. According to the Washington Post, Virginia ranks fifth in the nation in the number of wineries with more than 250 in the state, contributing nearly $750 million to the state economy each year. In 2015, the National Wine Tourism Conference will move to the East Coast, taking place in Northern Virginia.

“Consumers recognize that Long & Foster’s vast selection of properties offer them a range of options when it comes to choosing the right home, whether their choices are based on price, location, size, style or a home’s history,” said Boomer Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate. “More buyers and sellers turn to Long & Foster to sell or find their dream home because they know their properties will be marketed by the best-trained and most knowledgeable sales associates.”
