The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States, celebrated its annual Community Service Day on June 3. Thousands of Long & Foster agents and employees from across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast rolled up their sleeves and took their talents into local neighborhoods to give something back to the many communities the company serves. The teams worked on-site at parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, helping local organizations with spring cleaning efforts and other much-needed improvements.
Employees at Long & Foster’s Chantilly, Va., headquarters volunteered for Community Service Day by helping to beautify and repair the grounds at Cub Run RECenter on Monday, June 15, after their initial service date was postponed due to weather. Employees worked to remove dead bushes, plants and trees, clean up overgrown flower beds, edge and clean up the edges of walkways and sidewalks, and re-mulch.
The Cub Run RECenter serves as a local park and community center for the residents of Fairfax County – where Long & Foster was founded more than 47 years ago. Because of the harsh winter months, the park has been in need of additional assistance on the grounds. The work is especially important this year because the Fairfax 2015 World Police and Fire Games will host a portion of their competition at Cub Run in late June and early July, and the event may draw thousands of visitors to the park.
“Community Service Day, now in its 18th year, is hugely important to Long & Foster and our company culture,” said P. Wesley Foster Jr., chairman and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies. “The event is a great opportunity for our sales associates and employees to get out into their communities and give back to the areas in which they serve. Additionally, they gain a sense of personal satisfaction by contributing their time and effort, and we’re all honored to be able to do this work for our communities.”
