Long & Foster Hampton Roads Offices Hold Community Service Events

August 8, 2018

Long & Foster Real Estate agents and staff members across the Hampton Roads region made an impact in their communities by volunteering during the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day.

Some of the projects undertaken by Long & Foster field offices in the region included:

  • In Virginia Beach, the Kempsville office headed to the oceanfront. The group met at First Landing State Park on June 6 to clean up two miles of beach.
  • The Shore Drive/Coastal sales office, in Virginia Beach, spent a day helping Operation Smile, a locally based international nonprofit that provides cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children around the world. Agents took a tour of the facility and contributed by filling up 400 ‘smile bags,’ containing coloring books, crayons, mirrors, washclothes, shampoo, plush toys, wooden toy cars and trains, and toothbrushes. Additionally, the agents rolled and packed 88 blankets to be shipped.
  • Long & Foster’s Williamsburg office held two Community Service Day events. Volunteers helped distribute food from the Mobile Food Pantry at the Williamsburg House of Mercy on June 1. Then on June 6, members of the office worked with the Housing Partnership, Inc., of Williamsburg to paint a house in the Forest Glen neighborhood.
  • The York-Peninsula office several years ago adopted the York County Head Start program, which primarily serves underprivileged and special needs children and their families. As part of this year’s Community Service Day, volunteers from Long & Foster helped with the program’s year-end “Stepping Up” graduation celebration for rising kindergarteners. The office provides ongoing support for the program by volunteering throughout the year.

“It’s always a privilege to give back to our communities, which have contributed so greatly to our 50-year record of success in helping people buy and sell homes,” said Brian Haug, Long & Foster senior vice president who oversees operations in Richmond, Hampton Roads and Southwest Virginia.
