Event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community
The three MidShore offices of Long & Foster Real Estate—Easton/St. Michaels, Cambridge and Denton—are participating in the company’s annual Community Service Day. This year, the teams of top agents decided to do more than a single day, instead volunteering with Evelyn’s Place – Talbot’s Interfaith Shelter (TIS) – from May to the end of this year. Joining the brokerage’s over 200 offices in the tradition of giving back, the MidShore offices will be cooking dinner for people experiencing homelessness at Evelyn’s Place.
“Over the years, our offices have participated in numerous fundraising and awareness raising events for the Talbot Interfaith Shelter, so when Joyce Scharch, operations manager of TIS, asked if my team would be interested making dinner for their individuals and families on the 7th of every month, I did not hesitate,” said Martha Witte Suss, managing broker of the three MidShore offices. “I said ‘yes, we would,’ knowing my agents would be eager to participate. We feel honored and blessed to have the opportunity to provide meals to the TIS folks.”
Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during its annual Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.
“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Patrick Bain, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Through Community Service Day, our teams can make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
