Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest privately-owned residential real estate company in the United States, has recently listed a newly constructed home located at 7002 Springville Court in Springfield, Va., that was built by students from Fairfax County Public Schools by the Foundation for Applied Technical Education, Inc. (FATE). The five-bedroom, four-bathroom, 4,920-square-foot home is listed by Michelle Gordon and Karen Olmstead and is being offered for $935,000.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as the listing agents for this project, which was built with universal design accessibility features, such as a main-level bedroom suite, wider halls and doors, a zero-threshold entry and more,” Gordon and Olmstead said. “We both have children who attend Fairfax County Public Schools, so we chose another FCPS parent, Susan Driscoll, as our stager. We love that in promoting the property we have been able to spread the word about FATE. It’s a program we believe in so much that we plan to give a portion of our commission back to FATE.”

FATE has offered technical programs in residential construction, student auto sales and entrepreneurship for more than 45 years and its board includes representatives from a number of business and professional organizations. In addition to the students who worked on the construction of the home, Olmstead said two students had an interest in staging and were able to shadow their stager in preparation for its listing.

Upon entering the home, the foyer is flanked by a formal dining room as well as an office with French doors. A wide main hallway leads into the open-concept family room and eat-in kitchen, which includes granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, 42-inch Maple cabinets and an extra-large island. The family room features a gas fireplace and the space opens out to the covered patio and back yard. Also on the first floor is a pantry, bedroom and full bathroom, and a laundry/mud room leads to the attached garage.

The second floor of the home has a spacious master bedroom suite with two walk-in closets and a spa-like bathroom with two vanities, a shower and a deep soaking tub. Two additional bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet, and another full bathroom are also upstairs. The home’s lower level includes a fifth bedroom, with a walk-in closet and an adjacent full bathroom, as well as a sizable family room, a USB-wired media room, a utility room and a storage area. The basement also has its own entry leading to the back yard.

Additional features of the home include an irrigation and sprinkler system, a NuTone intercom and speaker system, adjustable closet organizers, and green features, such as an Energy Star heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, Jeld-Wen argon-filled windows and more. About two miles from the Springfield Metro Station, the property is convenient to I-95, Fairfax County Parkway and commuter lots.
