Long & Foster serves as Presenting Sponsor at annual fundraiser

Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 independent real estate brand by sales volume, and its Reston, Virginia, offices once again supported this year’s Capitol Steps performance to benefit Cornerstones. Long & Foster served as the presenting sponsor of the event, and its offices and local agents contributed to the fundraiser as well. The sold-out event was held Jan. 21, with more than 600 guests filling the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency in Reston Town Center.

Cornerstones is a nonprofit organization that works to help Fairfax County families become self-sufficient by providing support and advocacy for those in need of affordable housing, quality childcare, food and shelter.

This year’s event raised a record $340,614, which was presented to Cornerstones by the event co-chairs, including Liz Gavin Pao, who is also an agent in Long & Foster’s Reston office and was an event sponsor. “The success of the event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors and the Reston community,” said Kerrie Wilson, CEO of Cornerstones. “We are very thankful for Long & Foster’s contributions to this annual event and for the company’s continued support of our work for the past 10 years.”

In addition, Bonnie Haukness and Boofie O’Gorman, both from the Reston office of Long & Foster, helped Cornerstones with the event. Haukness served on the planning committee and was an Underwriter Sponsor of the event. O’Gorman was an honorary committee member and a Patron Sponsor.

Jeff Detwiler, Long & Foster’s president and chief executive officer, presented the event’s welcoming remarks, noting the importance of giving back to the community and helping those in need.
