Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for annual event
Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Oceanfront/Coastal office in Virginia Beach, VA, rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s annual Community Service Day on June 5.
Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 170 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.
The Oceanfront/Coastal office chose to volunteer with The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Volunteers were separated into two groups. Some went to work on the Food Bank’s Mobile Food Pantry which distributes items in areas with food insecurity, known as food deserts. The second group went on to check donated items for expiration dates and then separate them into bins for specific types of items.
This year our volunteers were able to hear some of the amazing statistics of what we have accomplished together in previous years at the Foodbank. Long & Foster has had 44 individual employees volunteer for a total of 149 hours. The volunteer hours are estimated to be worth $30.81 an hour. That is an estimated nearly $4,600 in donated time. Long & Foster has also donated $139 to the organization. Total meals donated to date through volunteer time and financial donations is an estimated 9,460 meals to neighbors in need. The team was very excited to see these numbers and plans to add to these numbers in the future.
“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Patrick Bain, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
