Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community
The Shore Drive Coastal office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 independent residential real estate brand in the United States*, will participate in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day on June 6. The Shore Drive Coastal office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, will join the brokerages over 220 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering at Operation Smile’s global headquarters. The team will work in the therapy room and put together Smile Bags.
“Just as Long & Foster is passionate about helping people buy and sell homes, Operation Smile is passionate about taking care of children around the world and providing them with the highest quality surgical care,” said Jennie Burge, who’s a Realtor in the Shore Drive Coastal office and oversees many of its philanthropic events, including Community Service Day. “We are thrilled to spend Community Service Day with an organization that has a similar enthusiasm and energy for those they serve.”
Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.
“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our team thoroughly enjoys this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
