A recent transaction by Realtor Zelda Heller, of the Heller Coley Reed team, became the largest condo unit to sell in the Washington, D.C., region in the last 10 years. The 8,315-square foot home, located in Quarry Springs in Bethesda, Maryland, sold for $6.25 million and closed in late January.
Heller, who is herself a resident of Quarry Springs, has sold about a third of the new community’s boutique-style condos. Quarry Springs sits on over 13 acres of land and is over 70 percent sold, she said. The buyer of the $6.25-million property purchased and combined two units, a trend that has been happening in other cities for many years.
“When they entered the home, these purchasers did not expect to find a unit of this size with a view that they were looking for,” Heller said. “From the minute they walked in, it took just moments for them to say this is their future home. It was everything that they were looking for and it checks every box – spaciousness, view, finishes, garden areas, amenities – it immediately clicked for their personal use.”
The penthouse-level condo is very private with direct elevator access. The gated community has numerous unique features, Heller said, including a 70-foot waterfall, and its easy access to commuter routes despite its country setting. The community provides residents with resort-style estate living without the obligations of an estate home.
Quarry Springs offers homes with many desirable features, including open layouts, gas fireplaces, premium wide-plank hardwood floors, garages, and an above-standard Sounds Transmission Class rating. Depending on the unit, spacious outdoor terraces and verandas range from 280 square feet to more than 2,170 square feet.
Kitchens include designer solid wood cabinets, Bosch, Sub-Zero and Wolf stainless steel appliances, marble counters, and a 46-bottle Sub-Zero wine cooler. Master baths offer glass walk-in showers with stone walls, large soaking tubs, and designer cabinets that match the kitchen.
Many units at Quarry Springs offer sunrise-to-sunset exposure, and prices for two-bedroom, two-bathroom homes start at $1.99 million. The Quarry Springs community is convenient to downtown Bethesda, Potomac Village, The Collection at Chevy Chase, Georgetown, the Congressional, Bethesda and Burning Tree country clubs, and much more.
