Ashley Brosnahan and Heather Gates of The Ashley Brosnahan Team at Long & Foster’s Bethany Beach office, formed the Beach Brigade Team and ran the Army 10 Miler in support of The Fisher House Foundation on October 8. Team Beach Brigade raised a total of $2,725. Gates is a United States Navy Veteran and has participated in this race for the last two years.
Gates said, “Being a champion for military families is the least I can do to give back. The Fisher House is an amazing organization that allows families to be together during times of recovery. I will always do my part to see that this organization receives support. God bless our military and their families.”
Brosnahan had never participated in the Army 10 Miler, or any race for that matter, but put in the training necessary and found herself totally immersed in Team Fisher House and the running world.
“Ten miles seemed like an unachievable goal, but with training and the goal of raising funds and awareness for The Fisher House foundation, I found how rewarding it is, and the sense of pride for the men and women who put their life on the line to keep us safe,” Brosnahan said.
The Army 10 Miler is the second largest 10-mile race in the United States after the Philadelphia Broad Street Run. It is held every October in Arlington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The event is sponsored by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. This year 35,000 runners participated.
Long & Foster Real Estate and the Bethany Beach Sales Office are proud to have Brosnahan and Gates as part of the team. Long & Foster and each of its offices strive to give back to the community and deserving organizations such as The Fisher House. The Bethany office held a fundraiser earlier this year and raised over $6,000 for The Dover Fisher House.
