May is the month between spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom and the sunshine is a welcome respite from the April showers. During the warmer months, spending time outdoors is the perfect pastime. Make the most of your yard and garden by revitalizing it with a few simple fixes and soon you’ll be able to enjoy your outdoor space all season long.
Set up outdoor furniture. Bring out furniture that was in storage, dust it off and go shopping for new pieces as needed.
Check outdoor lighting. Clean dirt and insects that have accumulated on your lights over the winter. Additionally, replace any burnt out bulbs so your outdoor space can be properly lighted.
Check for termites. Take a look at your home’s exterior wood and inspect for any swarms of winged insects. If spotted, it’s best to call a professional pest control company to treat the area.
Fertilize your lawn. Check for bare spots or damaged grass. Make sure you use the correct amount of fertilizer and water your lawn regularly.
Wash windows. Clear dirt, grime and pollen from the inside and outside of windows. Take an extra moment to wipe window frames and sills.
Power wash your home exterior. Make your home sparkle by power washing your porch, deck and other exterior surfaces. This will also prevent buildup from mold or mildew and keep your home healthy.
As you continue to social distance this spring and summer, make sure you have a space where you can entertain and visit friends and family safely. And if you are planning to sell your home this spring, do not hesitate to contact your local Long & Foster real estate agent.
