March home maintenance checklist

Another month, another home maintenance checklist! As we continue to hunker down, away from the cold and snow, it may feel like spring is eons away. But not to worry, warmer weather will be here before you know it and you’ll soon be busying yourself with spring cleaning and fun outdoor activities.

Before the cold lifts, put some time aside to refresh your home with some easy home upgrades. These simple but effective home maintenance tasks will shine a whole new light on your home and make it spring-ready.

Change your cabinetry handles and pulls. Refresh your kitchen cabinets by switching out the handles and pulls with something new. From changing up the finish or the shape, this simple change can help make a big impact in your space.

Repaint your front door. Make a good impression in the neighborhood by giving your front door a fresh coat of paint. Whether you stick to a classic neutral or opt for a bolder color, a repaint will add curb appeal and give your home exterior a fresh feel.

Scrub walls, baseboards and outlets. When cleaning the house, most people tend to forget about the walls themselves. Take a clean sponge or microfiber cloth, dip it into a gentle cleaning solution and get rid of any grime, fingerprints or dust that may be lingering on your walls.

Clean faucets and showerheads. These oft-overlooked items need a good scrubbing every now and again. Remove buildup and stains that may have accumulated throughout the season with a simple vinegar soak.

Organize your spice cabinet. Take your spices out and consolidate any duplicates. Throw out any that have expired and rearrange them in a method that works for you, whether it’s alphabetically or by most used.

Clean your windows. After all that rain and snow, your windows are probably streaky and dirty. Bring the shine and sparkle back to your exterior windows so the sunshine can come streaming in.

If you’re planning to put your home on the market this spring, we’ll be happy to recommend any repairs or improvements you’ll need to make. Likewise, if you’re in the market to buy a new property, just let us know how we can help.
