Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States, today announced that Rosemary Tran Lauer, a real estate agent with Long & Foster’s Tysons Corner, Va., office, has been named as a finalist in the Good Neighbor Awards by REALTOR Magazine, the official publication of the National Association of Realtors. Voting in the Good Neighbor Awards opens on Monday, Sept. 8.

The Good Neighbor Award program recognizes and honors outstanding Realtors who volunteer their time and energy to improving the quality of life in their communities and exemplify how Realtors across the country give back to their communities. This is the 15th year the magazine has sponsored the program.

Tran Lauer is included in the top 10 group of finalists chosen from the hundreds of nominations the magazine received, and she will be featured in the November/December issue of REALTOR Magazine. Five top winners will be announced in October, and they will each receive a $10,000 grant and paid travel to the NAR Conference & Expo in New Orleans in November, where they will receive their awards. The remaining five honorable mentions will each receive $2,500 grants for their causes.

Tran Lauer is the founder of Devotion to Children, which has served more than 3,000 children in the Northern Virginia area. According to DevotionToChildren.org, the nonprofit organization works to provide access to high quality educational and childcare programs for children ages six and younger who are from economically disadvantaged families. Tran Lauer, who came to the United States in 1975, was a single mother with two children who worked to become financially independent. Now a happily married mother of five, she created the organization in 1994 to help give back to the community that made her success possible.

“So many parents are working multiple jobs and struggling just to make ends meet, and having been there, I understand the difficulties they face. Knowing their children are getting the care they need can be a huge weight off their shoulders. I’m so thankful for all who supported me, that it makes me extremely happy to be able to provide that same kind of support for others,” Tran Lauer said.

“I am honored that the National Association of Realtors has considered me as a finalist for this year’s Good Neighbor Awards. It is truly humbling to be in a league with the other honorees who do so much in and around their local communities. When I consider their achievements, it makes me proud to be a Realtor.”

REALTOR Magazine‘s Good Neighbor Awards is sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance and Realtor.com. Nominees were judged on their personal contribution of time as well as financial and material contributions to benefit their cause.
