National Association of REALTORS voting polls open until Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. EST
Long & Foster Real Estate is pleased to announce Branch Manager, Kathy Opperman has been selected as a candidate for the Good Neighbor Award by the National Association of REALTORS (NAR).
In its 23rd year of the contest, this year, NAR has chosen 10 finalists for the Good Neighbor Award, recognizing REALTORS who make a difference in their communities by volunteering. NAR chooses extraordinary, inspirational leaders, who are passionate about their charitable causes. Since 2000, NAR has awarded nearly $1.5M to national organizations with support from sponsors like Realtor.com. The individual receiving the most votes will get $2,500 for their charity and two runners-up will be awarded $1,250 each.
Opperman, who is the managing broker of Long & Foster’s Collegeville office in Pennsylvania, is also a salesperson, productivity coach and sales instructor. Opperman had been an avid fundraiser for children with disabilities for more than 15 years. Eight years ago, Opperman founded Pillars of Light and Love, a non-profit focused on life and stress management, offering free workshops and programs to help build self-confidence, healthy coping skills and resilience in people from age five to adults.
“When there’s a need in the community, or someone comes to me and says, ‘I’d like to do a program for young adults with disabilities,’ I say, ‘OK, let’s create it,’” said Opperman.
This Fall, Opperman, along with dozens of community supporters, plans to open the So Much to Give Inclusive Café. The restaurant will welcome people with special needs as both workers and customers.
