Parts of South Jersey Shore Region See Stable Number of Homes Sold in October 2015

Market Minute LogoThe number of units sold stayed stable in portions of the South Jersey Shore real estate market in October, according to the Long & Foster Market Minute reports. The South Jersey Shore market includes Atlantic and Cape May counties. When compared to the same month in 2014, the number of units sold in the South Jersey Shore region remained the same or decreased. Atlantic County experienced no change and Cape May County saw a 2 percent decrease. Median sale prices in the area decreased compared to October 2014, with a 9 percent decrease seen in Cape May County, and an 11 percent decline in Atlantic County.

Active inventory varied in the region when compared to year-ago levels. In Cape May County, active inventory decreased by 12 percent, while there was no change in Atlantic County. In Atlantic County the days on market (DOM) average was 178 days, followed by Cape May County with a DOM average of 179 days.

“Consumer confidence increased once again in October and the labor market’s performing well ”“ both of which are good news for the economy,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies. “At Long & Foster, business remained steady, including in the South Jersey Shore region where inventory remained low. We predict to see continued stability in housing as 2015 comes to a close.”
