Brings training, marketing knowledge to support agents’ business growth

Maggie Colman, a real estate professional for nearly 25 years, has been named as sales manager of the Greenville, Del., office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States. Colman will be joining her brother, R.T. Christopher, who currently leads Long & Foster’s Greenville office and its nearly 100 real estate professionals.

“I am thrilled to work with both Long & Foster’s growing family of sales associates in Greenville, Del., and with my brother, R.T.,” said Colman. “Long & Foster has been committed to expanding its presence in New Castle County and the entire state of Delaware, and I’m confident that my expertise in new associate sales training and continuing education will perfectly complement both the company’s strategy as a whole and R.T.’s business strategy in Greenville to achieve even greater success.”

Colman previously served as branch manager at Long & Foster’s Pike Creek office in Wilmington, Del. There, she helped the office’s more than two dozen agents to build their businesses by focusing on strategic marketing and business development, as well as overall client satisfaction. Prior to joining Long & Foster, Colman served for 22 years in various capacities at Patterson-Schwartz Real Estate. She began her career as a residential sales associate in 1991, licensed in Delaware and Pennsylvania, and was named a broker and manager of a company sales office. During this time, Colman was involved in new associate sales training and continuing education, and planned corporate-wide sales events.

In 2000, Colman transitioned out of residential brokerage to launch and direct a new division of the company that offered extensive home services to all sales associates and customers company-wide. Additionally, she has served in various management and leadership roles supporting the firm’s ancillary businesses and corporate efforts, as well as providing training, marketing, customer service and recruiting services.

“Maggie’s broad real estate background, as well as her positive attitude and professionalism, have already proven invaluable for Long & Foster,” said Terry Spahr, regional vice president for Long & Foster’s New Jersey and Delaware region. “Adding her unique skills and knowledge to our Greenville, Del., office will help our real estate agents and our company to help local buyers and sellers achieve the total homeownership experience.”

Gary Scott, president of Long & Foster Real Estate, agreed. “It takes a highly knowledgeable and experienced leader to support real estate professionals in today’s competitive market, and Maggie is both a successful broker and effective manager,” said Scott. “We are confident that adding her to the leadership team in Greenville, Del., will result in the synergy that our agents thrive on. This is how our company has continued to help local buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for 45 years.”

A Delaware native, Colman graduated with a degree in business finance from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md. Colman thrives on being involved in the community and the schools her children attend, and is a supporter of local business, sporting events and charities.
