Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Blacksburg/NRV, Botetourt, Lynchburg/Forest, Smith Mountain Lake/Halesford Bridge and Roanoke offices, rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s annual Community Service Day throughout June 2025.
Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its more than 100 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.
The Roanoke & Boteoturt Offices chose to volunteer with The Rescue Mission of Roanoke – Manna Food Pantry. The Manna Food Pantry provides groceries for hundreds of families across the Roanoke region. The ministry relieves families of the burden of grocery shopping, providing them with peace of mind and alleviating their stress. The office helped assemble around 600 grocery boxes for distribution, organize food donations & breakdown boxes.
The Blacksburg office chose to volunteer with the Montgomery County Christmas Store. Since 1982, the Christmas Store has served local families by providing clothing, food, toys, shoes, household supplies, and more. With shelves stocked with new merchandise, shoppers are offered a true choice in what they receive. Run entirely by volunteers — over 1,000 strong — the Christmas Store thrives on community support. In total, the store has helped 3,349 individuals, giving them access to essential items and items they might enjoy, and helping ensure they have a joyful holiday season. From Helping sort and price items, build new shelves, and clean up the store, team members tackled a variety of tasks to support the community- all while having fun doing it.
The Lynchburg/Forest Office was set up at a local park and distributed Care Kits to those in need. The Care Kits included general hygiene items, snacks, misc. items all put together in a reusable draw string bag. Our incredible crew also gave out free pizza, water and Italian ices. Our Long & Foster Lynchburg/Forest office were able to serve over 75 people in the community!
The Long & Foster Halesford Bridge Smith Mountain Lake Office chose to volunteer with Agape Center SML in Moneta. Agape Center SML provides public and social services to families in need. They provide food, clothing, household items, furniture and more. There is no cost for the clients. They also provide mentoring and classes that teach principles and skills. Our Long & Foster Halesford Bridge Smith Mountain Lake Office group put together school supplies in packets to give out before school starts for pre-school, kindergarten, middle and high school supplies. Our incredible agents & staff were able to put together a total of 240 packets, along with organize games to be handed out and the office volunteered to go back and help them finish. It was a great experience for everyone!
“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Patrick Bain, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
