Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community
The Reston office of Long & Foster Real Estate will participate in the company’s 22nd annual Community Service Day on June 19. The Reston sales office in Reston, Virginia join the brokerage’s over 220 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering on the 19th to help the Reston Association’s Send a Kid to Camp Scholarship Fund.
“This year, the Reston office will support local children during the summer day camp and help create some fun experiences for the campers,” said Athena Peterson, manager of the Reston office. “Each year our office generously donates over $5,000 to the Reston Scholarship Camp for kids. This money is used for the kids from Reston that are selected by school counselors, churches and Cornerstones that need assistance to attend the summer camps. Without the scholarship program, they would not be able to attend the camp, and in many cases, the camp experience alters their lives. It is an important way for our office to give back to our community.
Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.
“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
