Long & Foster’s Patricia Sherwood Honored with Distinguished Citizenship Award by Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce

Patricia Sherwood, a Realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate’s Martinsburg Foxcroft Avenue office in Martinsburg, West Virginia, has been recognized for her impressive leadership and community involvement. The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s named Sherwood as the 2019 recipient of the Chuck Ellison Distinguished Citizen Award.

The award was sponsored by The Journal Publishing Company and the ceremony was combined with the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet commemorating their 60-year anniversary. The celebration was held at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, in Charles Town, West Virginia, on June 21.

“It’s such an honor to have been selected by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce for its Distinguished Citizen Award, and I’m proud to be recognized among so many accomplished individuals from our area, including my husband who won this award in 2016,” said Sherwood. “It’s been a pleasure to help the area’s residents make their homeownership dreams come true and also give back to the community. I look forward to serving my clients and community for many years to come.”

A Realtor with Long & Foster for six years, Sherwood credits her success to Margie Bartles, broker and office manager of Long & Foster’s Martinsburg Foxcroft Avenue office. “Margie is a great role model, not only for the real estate business, but for community involvement and service,” said Sherwood.

Sherwood is very active in the community. She was the immediate past president for the Eastern Panhandle Board of Realtors and continues to serve on its board. In addition, Sherwood is known for her volunteer efforts for the local women’s shelter, Hospice of the Panhandle, and other nonprofit organizations.  She is also an adjunct professor at Shepherd University, where she teaches business ethics and business communications.

“We are proud of Patti for being selected for the Distinguished Citizen Award,” said Bartles. “Being named for this award is a true testament to her hard work and dedication to her clients and community.”
