Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community

The Oceanfront/Coastal office of Long & Foster Real Estate, will participate in the company’s annual Community Service Day on June 8. The Oceanfront/Coastal office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, will join the brokerage’s over 200 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering at The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.

“Our office participates in community service a few times a year and it’s important to us that we do something that will directly affect our local community,” Managing Broker, Tina Holt said. “This year we chose the food bank because of the dire need that they have. The pandemic has changed lives and these organizations need our help more than ever.”

Starting on May 2 and continuing through May 7, the Oceanfront/Coastal office will be hosting a food drive and asking agents and community members to drop off non-perishable food items and toiletries.

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes, and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeffrey Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
