The Bethany Beach office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest privately owned residential real estate company in the United States, took part in the company’s 19th annual Community Service Day on June 8, 2016. The Bethany office joined the brokerage’s over 220 offices in the day of giving back by hosting a Family Night and Silent Auction event at The Den at Bear Trap Dunes where they raised more than $3,000 for two local organizations that help our community’s children. The organizations, River Soccer Club and Selbyville Middle School Athletic Boosters, provide needed equipment, uniforms, facility upkeep and whatever else is necessary to provide every child throughout the local community the opportunity to participate.
“Children benefit greatly from participating in team sports. There is the physical aspect but also many other benefits,” said Dottie Wells, manager of Long & Foster’s Bethany sales office. “They learn teamwork, respect for self and others, gain self-confidence and learn many character-building life lessons. These are important skills in developing our future leaders. Many families may not have the resources to afford uniforms, bats, balls, shoes or the registration cost. These organizations turn no child down and will make sure the children have what they need.”
Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company, including staff from its headquarters located in Chantilly, Virginia, participated in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.
