Danai Mattison Sky, sales manager for Long & Foster’s Capitol Hill office in Washington, D.C., was recently named to the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission by Mayor Muriel Bowser. Sky, who has spent her life surrounded by real estate, became a Realtor in 2009 and was named to her current position with Long & Foster in September 2015. Long & Foster Real Estate is the largest family-owned residential real estate company in the United States.
“Playing an active role in the area’s real estate community is extremely important to me and I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve on the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission,” Sky said. “Being involved both locally and nationally means I can stay at the forefront of what’s happening in the marketplace and use that knowledge to serve the agents at the Capitol Hill office, my fellow Realtors and consumers alike to the absolute best of my ability.”
The District of Columbia Real Estate Commission is responsible for regulating the licenses of real estate agents within D.C., as well as protecting consumers by upholding local real estate license laws. The commission includes nine members who must be Washington, D.C., residents and each is appointed by the mayor. In addition to her new position with the commission, Sky is active in the Greater Capitol Area Association of Realtors, where she serves on the board of directors, and the National Association of Realtors. She also serves on the GCAAR Young Professional Network Committee and the Events Committee as board liaison, in addition to serving on NAR’s Strategic Thinking Committee.

Sky grew up under the tutelage of her father, Long & Foster top producing agent Dale Mattison, whose team she joined in 2010. She achieved $20 million in sales volume in her first year in the business. Prior to joining Long & Foster she worked with The Mayhood Company, a leading new home condominium sales and marketing firm in the District. She was also a Realtor Magazine 30 Under 30 honoree in 2013.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Sky and her husband Barak Sky, who is also a top-producing agent with Long & Foster, live in Washington, D.C. She is licensed in the District and Maryland.
