Jane Wallace served as one of Long & Foster Real Estate’s branch managers in Reston, Va., before her unfortunate passing in December 2015. The below article from the Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR) talks about one of the ways the Realtor community joined together to honor and remember Jane.

Just before Christmas, REALTOR® members and affiliates of Meet Up from the Fredericksburg Area Association of REALTORS® (FAAR), met in downtown Fredericksburg to pay it forward for the holiday season. Meet Up is a networking group designed to integrate new members with existing members to build and strengthen relations within FAAR. Honoring Jane Wallace, a FAAR member and longtime REALTOR® who passed away in early December, the group embarked on ”˜Random Acts of Kindness’ with more than $1,000 that had been collected through their ”˜Charitree.’ FAAR REALTORS® handed out cash and gift cards randomly to unsuspecting recipients, including individuals and families on the street, policemen, a soldier, employees of local establishments, guests in the library and passing drivers. The surprised reactions and beaming smiles were priceless, as people shared their thanks through hugs and joyful tears with the REALTORS® handing out gifts.
These acts of kindness and service to the community reflected Jane Wallace’s generosity. She had served on the FAAR Board of Directors, was committed to the success of her peers, and served the Fredericksburg and REALTOR® communities with passion. Jane served on the Virginia Association of REALTORS® Community Engagement Grant Committee to help distribute funds to local associations for their own community service. For FAAR members, it was natural to honor her life and sincere giving spirit by offering ”˜Random Acts of Kindness’ in the city she loved. FAAR Meet Up intends to continue this as an annual tradition, remembering Jane each year by uplifting the lives of her neighbors.
