David Gillis, a real estate and hospitality industry professional for over a decade, has been named managing broker of Long & Foster Real Estate’s Falls Church, Va., office. Gillis, who brings significant career achievements to his new position, is well respected and actively involved in the local Realtor community. Long & Foster Real Estate is the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States.

“I’m excited to take on this new role at Long & Foster and to lead the fantastic team of real estate professionals at our Falls Church office,” said Gillis. “Long & Foster is known for attracting high-caliber sales associates and clientele by providing the best and latest tools, technology and training, and I look forward to helping our agents build their careers in real estate and further grow the Long & Foster brand in the Northern Virginia region.”

Gillis started his real estate career with Long & Foster’s Centreville office nearly a decade ago. In 2012, he earned his associate broker’s license, and shortly after, began working as a sales agent and mentor in the brokerage’s Fairfax Centre location. He moved into management in August 2013, taking on the role of sales manager for Long & Foster’s Annandale and Falls Church offices. In that position, he helped the offices’ agents to achieve success in real estate for themselves and their clients.

“It takes a highly knowledgeable and skilled leader to support real estate agents in today’s competitive environment, and we are confident that with David at the helm of our Falls Church office, we’ll continue to achieve success for our agents and their clients,” said Karen Kidwell and Lonnie Plaster, senior vice presidents and regional managers of Long & Foster Real Estate’s Northern Virginia and West Virginia region. “Adding exceptional leaders to our team is how our company has helped local buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for over 45 years and how we’ll continue to do so for the years to come.”

Gillis is an active member of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR), and he served on the association’s Public Policy Committee and Convention Task Force in 2014. He continues to serve on NVAR’s Public Policy Committee and is on the association’s 2015 Leadership Institute. Gillis also holds an instructor’s license to teach the principles of real estate and the broker’s licensing course. Prior to his work in real estate, Gillis had over a decade of experience working in the hospitality industry.
