Long & Foster Real Estate welcomes Brian Swafford to its Captains Cove office in Greenbackville, Virginia. Swafford will specialize in working with homebuyers and sellers.

“We are very excited and fortunate to have Brian join our team of highly trained professionals,” said Tina Holt, manager of the Captains Cove office. “The combination of Long & Foster and Brian’s unique skills and knowledge will no doubt provide the highest level of service to local buyers and sellers.”

Swafford is participating in Long & Foster’s Success Path program, which offers extensive training and resources for agents at any stage of their career. The program’s curriculum includes tools for agents to build their business, mentor-style programs, techniques for prospecting and working with buyers and sellers, skills for negotiating and more. Swafford holds membership in the Coastal Association of Realtors and the Eastern Shore Association of Realtors.

“I was drawn to a career with Long & Foster, specifically the Captain’s Cove office, through personal experience,” said Swafford. “My wife and I were trying to find the perfect piece of land to build a home on the water and The McGoldrick Team worked tirelessly to help us find just the right place. Even after the sale they were always available to answer questions and went far beyond the sale to help us navigate the home building process. Out of that appreciation, a friendship and respect developed, and I knew that was the type of service and dedication that I wanted to be associated with. As I began to consider life after law enforcement, I stayed in touch with John McGoldrick and set on a path to transition to a career with Long & Foster.”

Throughout his career in law enforcement, Swafford has been known as an outside-of-the-box problem solver and a very mission-oriented leader that always considers the people that are associated with the mission. He plans to bring that same level of dedication to service and to do what needs to be done and when it needs to be done for his clients and Long & Foster.”

Swafford was born in Wilmington, Delaware and was raised in Millsboro, Delaware. After high school he attended the University of Delaware and then moved to Maryland. Swafford is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Maryland Chiefs of Police Association, FBI National Academy Alumni Association and International Associaton of Chiefs of Police.

“We welcome Brian to Long & Foster, a company that has helped local buyers and sellers reach their homeownership goals for over 50 years,” said Larry “Boomer” Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate.

“I am a board member of the Friends of Spencer charitable fund,” Swafford said. “The fund was founded to raise money for a young Fruitland, Maryland Officer who contracted a rare form of bone cancer and has continued in his memory since his passing in 2020. The fund serves young people on the Eastern Shore who are experiencing serious illness and injury.”

In his spare time, Swafford enjoys fishing, crabbing, boating, cooking, participating in physical fitness activities and being on or near the water.
