COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA March 31, 2026 Phyllis Smallwood has joined Long & Foster Real Estate at its Tri-Cities Southpark office in Colonial Heights, VA. Smallwood will specialize in working with homebuyers and sellers.  She is dedicated to providing personal but professional experience to every client.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Phyllis to our team of highly trained professionals,” said Nancy Steinke, managing broker of the Tri-Cities Southparkoffice. “The combination of Long & Foster and Phyllis’s unique skills and knowledge will no doubt provide the highest level of service to local buyers and sellers.”

Smallwood is participating in Long & Foster’s Success Path program, which offers extensive training and resources for agents at any stage of their career. The program’s curriculum includes tools for agents to build their business, mentoring programs, techniques for prospecting and working with buyers and sellers, skills for negotiating and more. Smallwood holds membership in the Southside Virginia Association of Realtors.

“I wanted to join a real estate company that is a good fit for me and is particular about professionalism. I believe Long and Foster is the place for me. I look forward to working with Ms. Nancy Steinke, Managing Broker, the staff and its partners to build a long and prosperous new business for years to come,” Smallwood said.

“Today’s residential real estate market is constantly changing. Participating in our Success Path program has provided Phyllis with the right tools to meet those changing dynamics,” said Patrick Bain, and president of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate.

Phyllis is not new to the industry. She worked as a Realtor earlier in her career and has maintained her passion for the business ever since. Although much has changed over the years, she believes the life‑changing results, excitement, and joy of making the major decision of homeownership will always remain the same.

Phyllis retired from the timeclock in June 2025 after a successful career in Accounting, Business, and Human Resources Management. “A compassion for people and a love for numbers are my strengths,” she said. She has attended several area community colleges, Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA), and St. Paul’s College (Lawrenceville, VA), earning a Bachelor of Science degree along with multiple professional certifications.

She currently resides in Chester, VA, and has lived or worked in several cities and counties throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, taking short getaways, gardening, listening to music, and participating in church activities.
