Long & Foster Once Again Giving Back to Loudoun Breast Health Network

October 15, 2024

Nonprofit provides support to area residents affected by breast cancer

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime—a staggering statistic that hit close to home for Long & Foster Real Estate agent Kathy Jones when her daughter was diagnosed in 2018. Despite having health insurance, Jones’ daughter faced mounting bills for treatments and procedures.

A friend then introduced her to the Loudoun Breast Health Network (LBHN), an organization that became life-changing for her. The all-volunteer nonprofit provides Loudoun County residents in active treatment for breast cancer with emotional, financial and physical support. Qualifying residents must apply to the program, and LBHN helps with everything from prescription costs and grocery bills to medical expenses and even mortgage payments.

“Breast cancer takes a significant toll, both financially and emotionally, and the Loudoun Breast Health Network genuinely makes a difference for those going through it,” said Jones.

Jones believes so strongly in LBHN’s mission that she has rallied the Long & Foster One Loudoun office team to raise funds for the organization over the past several years. This year’s Pink Ribbon Hoppy Hour Fundraiser – the office’s fourth fundraiser for LBHN – is set for Nov. 14, 5 to 8 p.m., at Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn.

In the three years they’ve hosted the event, the team has raised nearly $75,000 for LBHN—$20,000 in 2019, $26,000 in 2022, and $25,616 in 2023. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fundraisers were not held in 2020 or 2021. This year, Jones hopes to raise $30,000 to help LBHN support even more Loudoun County residents in need.

“Long & Foster has a strong tradition of giving back to the communities we serve, and supporting LBHN—an organization that does so much for our Loudoun neighbors—perfectly aligns with our commitment to giving,” said Cathy Zamanpour, managing broker of Long & Foster’s One Loudoun office.
