Real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate’s Oceanfront/Coastal office in Virginia Beach, VA, participated in a Kentucky Derby hat-making event.
When the Kentucky Derby began in 1875, hats were a necessity. The Derby took place in May and the hats were used to protect attendees from the sun’s rays. As the years went on, hats became more and more about making a fashion statement and showcasing social status.
The upcoming Derby-themed Circle of Excellence Awards Gala, which will be held by the Hampton Roads Realtors Association in April, was the perfect reason for the Oceanfront/Coastal office to plan their own event for those interested in creating hats! Several materials were provided including feathers, bows, flowers, and several types of ribbons for people to use as decorations.
The Derby hat-making class was a great opportunity for agents and staff to get together for some fun and share creative ideas. Everyone enjoyed leaving with their very own masterpiece!
