Long & Foster’s Dianne M. Bailey exclusively listed the renovated Cape Cod-style home

A luxuriously renovated Cape Cod-style home in Washington, D.C., is now being offered by Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 family-owned real estate company in the United States and the exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate. Located at 7059 Wyndale Street NW in the sought-after Chevy Chase neighborhood, the green home features over 4,100 square feet of fully updated living space. The property is exclusively listed by Dianne M. Bailey, a sales associate with Long & Foster’s Chevy Chase office, for $1.195 million.

“No expense was spared in renovating this luxury home with its hand-hewn antique beams, exquisite plaster work and locally quarried stone floors and counters,” said Bailey. “A meal at home feels like dining in a Paris bistro while a short walk outside allows you to enjoy expansive greenery, including views of a waterfall, trees and flowers.”

Originally built in 1952, the classic home underwent an over $350,000 renovation in 2009. As part of the updates, dc greenworks installed a green roof to provide superior thermal and acoustical insulation and to reduce storm-water runoff. Energy-efficient spray-foam insulation also was added to the home, as well as zoned and high-efficiency HVAC systems and insulated Marvin windows, giving it numerous green elements and benefits.

The renovation helped the home to earn recognition in the nationwide Rejuvenation “Make Your Home Your Own” contest in 2010. As part of the contest, employees at Rejuvenation, a classic lighting and home design manufacturer, and industry experts evaluated the home’s updates with a focus on period and other design elements. It received the employees’ choice award.

The Wyndale Street home features three bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as a one-car garage and soaring 10′ and 13′ ceilings throughout. Entering the house, you are welcomed into the spacious living room with a direct vented gas fireplace. Adjacent to the living room sits the light-filled sunroom, where you can enjoy the beauty of the home’s surrounding greenery. A cozy sitting room, complete with an 8′ Tulikivi soapstone fireplace and wood-fired oven, is connected to the home’s kitchen at the back of the home.

The eat-in kitchen was designed for an avid cook with top-of-the-line appliances and ample counter space. A chef-favorite Bluestar six-burner custom gas range centers the kitchen, which also features a Liebherr refrigerator and Asko dishwasher. Custom cabinets are complemented by the concrete island top and soapstone counters, as well as the striking Old English plaster ceiling. Antique beams from Appalachian Woods also bring a sense of warmth to the kitchen, and a nearby mudroom with custom Elfa shelving serves as a pantry. A secondary bedroom, as well as a full bathroom, is also located on the first floor.

Upstairs, vaulted ceilings bring an airy feeling to the spacious master bedroom. An en suite bathroom has been fully updated with marble tile in a classic gray-and-white color scheme. An oversized cast-iron clawfoot tub and separate open shower with body sprays complete the spa-like bathroom. The second floor also comprises a third bedroom with its own en suite bathroom.

In the basement, an oversized open room is perfect for gatherings of friends and family, and it offers plenty of storage space. A full bathroom and laundry room complete the basement, which also provides access to the garage. Outside, a stone patio allows you to enjoy the nearby certified wildlife habitat and neighborhood greenery. The home’s front and back gardens bloom from March through October, and a pond and waterfall complete the space. In addition, the entire yard has been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a Pesticide-Free Zone.
