Long & Foster's Middleburg, Purcellville Offices to Host Community Service Day

May 29, 2015

The Middleburg and Purcellville offices of Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States, will take part in the company’s 18th annual Community Service Day on June 3, 2015. The two offices will join the brokerages over 180 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering at the entrance to Safeway, collecting donations to benefit the Middleburg Humane Foundation.

The Middleburg Humane Foundation operates a private, non-profit, 4.5-acre farm shelter located in Marshall, Va. It is their goal to provide a safe haven for abused, neglected, and “at risk” animals, both large and small. MHF specializes in the rescue and rehabilitation of animals that come to their shelter from a vast variety of abusive situations. After much needed nurturing and medical care, the animals are placed available for adoption. They depend solely on donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations, as well as funds that are raised at various events throughout the year. MHF also operates a grooming salon at the shelter in Marshall in addition to a thrift shop in the town of Middleburg.

“For the 5th year in a row, our agents have chosen the Middleburg Humane Foundation to support on Community Service Day. It’s an organization that is fulfilling such a need in our community, and is important to both our clients and sales agents,” Managing Broker Lars Henriksen said.

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company, including staff from its headquarters located in Chantilly, Va., will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Long & Foster has had a long-standing commitment to supporting the communities in which we live and work and this event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & FosterCompanies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “It’s such a wonderful opportunity for our Long & Foster family to make an impact in our local communities, and everyone thoroughly enjoys contributing their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”

In addition to its dedication to serving the community, Long & Foster Real Estate is committed to the success of its sales associates and is an industry leader in providing the latest and best tools, technology and training. For more information, visit www.LongandFoster.com.
