Long & Foster’s Bethany Beach Office to Host Community Service Day

Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community

The Bethany Beach office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 independent residential real estate brand in the United States, will participate in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day on June 6. The Bethany Beach office in Bethany Beach, Delaware, will join the brokerage’s over 220 offices in the day of giving back by gathering donations from agents, family and friends for The Cheer Center in Georgetown, Delaware.

Last year, The Cheer Center fed 4,800 Sussex County senior citizens. Each of the 332,000 meals was produced in Cheer’s central kitchen. The expanding senior population in Sussex has outgrown the capacity of the kitchen, which needs to be expanded and modernized. The team at Long & Foster’s Bethany Beach office hopes that its agents, family and friends will help The Cheer Center meet, or even exceed, its 1.4 million dollar goal, according to Diane Jenkins, branch secretary of the office.

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
