Shopping card sales benefit Children’s National

Long & Foster Real Estate, Inc., the No. 1 family-owned residential real estate company in the United States, is again sponsoring The Board of Visitors for Children’s National Health System’s annual Care for Kids fundraiser. This is the third consecutive year that Long & Foster has supported the Washington, D.C., area charity shopping card program. By giving $50 for a Care for Kids card, local residents enjoy a 20-percent discount at participating Care for Kids merchants during the Oct. 16 to 25 shopping days as well as support Children’s National, which receives 100 percent of card sales proceeds.

“Long & Foster is dedicated to giving back to the many communities in which we live and work, and that’s why we’re pleased to support the Board of Visitors in their annual Care for Kids fundraising program,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Children’s National has helped so many individuals in our area through its pediatric health services, and it’s our privilege to support them in furthering their mission.”

Denise Warner, a Long & Foster real estate agent in Georgetown and 2015 chair of Care for Kids, shared her enthusiasm for the program and Long & Foster’s ongoing commitment to Children’s National.

“The Board of Visitors and I are so grateful to Long & Foster for again sponsoring Care for Kids,” said Warner. “This is an essential fundraiser for both our Board and Children’s National, and I’m confident that with Long & Foster’s support, as well as the contributions of our many merchants and other supporters, we’ll raise even more money and awareness for Children’s National.”

Care for Kids cards cost $50 and are available to purchase online at the Board of Visitors website and at most participating retailers. Many Long & Foster offices in Washington, D.C., will also have cards available to purchase. This year, over 150 shops and restaurants are participating in Care for Kids, including Lebanese Taverna, Bloomingdale’s, The Container Store, Mulberry, Pottery Barn, Versace and Williams Sonoma, among many others.
