Long & Foster Real Estate, the largest independent residential real estate company in the United States, has named Bill Hounshell as the new branch manager at its Logan Circle office in Washington, D.C. Hounshell brings to his new position a background in residential real estate sales and commercial management, as well as experience operating his own brokerage.

“I’m thrilled to lead the team of real estate professionals at Long & Foster’s new Logan Circle office, and I’m excited for the opportunity to help build the company’s presence in this thriving Washington, D.C., neighborhood,” said Hounshell. “Long & Foster is known for attracting high-caliber sales associates and clientele by providing the best and latest tools, technology and training, and I look forward to helping our agents build their careers in real estate and to further growing the Long & Foster brand in the nation’s capital.”

Hounshell started his real estate career in 1984, working in commercial management for a year before transitioning to real estate sales. He earned recognition as a top producing agent and real estate leader during his career, and his passion for the business and helping buyers, sellers and his fellow agents motivated him to start his own brokerage in 2006. Hounshell operated that business for six years before selling it to a larger firm. He worked with that company for a few years and then joined Long & Foster as a sales associate in 2013. Hounshell is excited to return to real estate management, noting that he’s a hands-on manager who enjoys helping his agents to become successful professionals. He is eager to build relationships with the local businesses and residents in Logan Circle, including the thriving art community there.

“Supporting today’s real estate sales professionals takes a highly knowledgeable, experienced leader,” said Heather Parness, senior vice president and regional manager of Long & Foster’s Washington, D.C., region. “We are confident that adding Bill to the Long & Foster leadership team will result in the synergy on which our agents thrive. This is how our company has continued to help local buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for the past 45 years.

Prior to his real estate career, Hounshell served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. He attended Northern Virginia Community College and Old Dominion University. Hounshell currently resides in Washington, D.C., and in his spare time, he enjoys freshwater fishing and aviation.
