Three members of the Long & Foster leadership team have been named to the 2017 Swanepoel Power 200. The list recognizes those in the real estate industry who are considered the most powerful and influential. Included in the list are P. Wesley “Wes” Foster Jr., chairman and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and COO of The Long & Foster Companies, and Cindy Ariosa, senior vice president and regional manager of Long & Foster Real Estate’s Baltimore, western Maryland and Eastern Shore region. The Long & Foster Companies is the parent company to Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 privately owned residential real estate company in the United States.

Foster earned the No. 18 position, Detwiler was named as No. 35 and Ariosa was ranked at No. 187. Foster and Detwiler have been named to the list each year since it began in 2014, and this is Ariosa’s second time named to the list. The list includes 200 influential executives, founders, presidents, managing partners and other leaders of the residential real estate industry. Additionally, Swanepoel’s Power Brokers subset list, which ranks executives of company-owned brokerages, listed Foster at No. 5 and Detwiler at No. 10. Led by Stefan Swanepoel, the annual Swanepoel Power 200 list is published by the Swanepoel T3 Group and took more than 600 hours of research and analysis to compile.

“The Swanepoel Power 200 list recognizes executives who have made extensive contributions to the real estate industry and often those contributions help all of us improve our business and support real estate agents and their clients,” Detwiler said. “I’m honored to have been named to the list again and to have been included among these remarkable leaders, including our very own founder, Wes Foster.”

Ariosa echoed Detwiler’s comments. “This year’s Power 200 list is filled with dynamic, accomplished individuals, and many of them, like Wes, are trailblazers within the industry who work to lead the next generation of real estate professionals,” Ariosa said. “I am truly thankful to have been considered and chosen to be a part of this list.”

The rankings are based on a number of criteria including an individual’s personal influence, their tenure in the industry, the position they hold and the decision-making power of that office. Their company’s financial status, size and significance within the industry, as well as its geographic reach, are also considered in the process. Additionally, the individual’s future contributions to the industry are part of the evaluation criteria.

“Those named to the Swanepoel Power 200 are driven, innovative leaders within our industry, who are experts at what they do, and it’s a pleasure for us to be included among them,” Foster said. “Since our beginnings, Long & Foster has held honesty, integrity and innovation among our highest values and it’s those values that help us continue to earn recognition such as this.”
