Long & Foster Falls Church Office to Host Free Community Shred, Donation, and Food Drive Event

September 23, 2016

Long & Foster Real Estate’s Falls Church office will hold a free community shred, donation and food drive event for the general public on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School, located at 3333 Sleepy Hollow Road, Falls Church, VA 22044.

Members of the public may bring up to three copy paper boxes or three tall kitchen bags of documents for free secure document shredding. Additionally, True Shred will be on site for hard drive shredding, 123 Junk will be on site to collect donations of furniture, appliances and clothing, and donations of food items will benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Hard drives brought for shredding should be removed from the computer and any heavy metal casing.

To prevent fraud, the Federal Trade Commission recommends that consumers “shred receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks, bank statements, expired charge cards, and similar documents when [they] don’t need them any longer.”

“At Long & Foster we are dedicated to safeguarding our clients’ information and helping them to prevent becoming the victim of identity theft and scams. We are pleased to host this annual event as a service for both our clients and the community to assist them in being proactive in keeping their own information secure,” said David Gillis, manager of Long & Foster’s Falls Church office.

The free community shred, donation and food drive event is open to the public; however, we request that those bringing items to shred also bring three non-perishable food items. All food donations go to the Arlington Food Assistance Center to feed the hungry in our community. For further information, contact Gillis at 703-534-9660.
