More than $3K raised for Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic

The Long & Foster Companies raised more than $3,000 for Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic during a charity golf tournament on May 22. About 120 golfers participated in the second annual tournament, which was held at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Va. Sponsors of the event included Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, RGS Title, Long & Foster Insurance, Long & Foster Real Estate and Long & Foster Home Service Connections—all part of the Long & Foster family of companies. Additionally, Fair Oaks Chantilly Jeep, Belfor Property Restoration, US Inspect, 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, Olympia Moving & Storage and HMS National each contributed to the event as sponsors.

Dave Rotell, vice president and area manager at Prosperity Home Mortgage, helped plan the event on behalf of The Long & Foster Companies this year and in 2013. Rotell had approached the leadership teams at The Long & Foster Companies a few years ago, asking if they would be interested in supporting a charity golf tournament that would bring together their companies while also benefitting the community. The response was a resounding “yes,” and Rotell said it has been an amazing event ever since then, especially since the organizations get to give back to Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

After the golfers finished their game on May 22, they enjoyed a performance from Suz’s Blues Band, a local band featuring Julie Fanning, Eric Goldberg, Lars Henriksen, Joe Trimarchi and Don Ault. In addition to performing in the band, Henriksen also heads Long & Foster Real Estate’s Leesburg, Va., office. Donations were also presented to representatives from Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, both of whom briefly spoke about their organizations with the attendees.

“Giving back to the various communities in which we live and work is a top priority for all employees and real estate professionals with Long & Foster, and whether it’s a charity golf tournament like this event or our annual Community Service Day initiative, we’re always thrilled to support the local community,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and chief operating officer of The Long & Foster Companies.
