Jo Hesbach Cross, a veteran sales associate, with Long & Foster Real Estate’s Chesapeake Sales office in Chesapeake, Virginia, has earned the prestigious Realtor Emeritus status from the National Association of Realtors. The Realtor Emeritus status recognizes that Cross has been a member of the National Association of Realtors for more than 40 years and is a valuable and lasting contributor to the real estate profession and to the community.

“The Long & Foster family congratulates Jo for her high achievements in the real estate profession,” said Brian Haug, senior vice president and regional manager of Long & Foster in Richmond. “We are fortunate to have Jo and her wealth of experience and knowledge on our team. She is a true example of Long & Foster’s commitment to ensuring consumers have access to the best-trained and most experienced experts possible when buying or selling a home.”

Cross started her real estate career in the Richmond area in 1979.  She has served on the Board of Directors of the Richmond Association of Realtors (RAR), chaired multiple committees, taught new member orientation and Code of Ethics classes, and was recognized as the 1994 Sales Associate of the Year from RAR. While a member of RAR, Cross also served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) for ten years and chaired multiple committees for VAR.  In 1993, Cross was awarded the VAR Sales Associate of the Year award.

In 2000, Cross  became a managing broker with a competing broker in Hampton Roads. During that time, she  was a member of the Hampton Roads Realtors Association (HRRA), serving on the organization’s Board of Directors and chairing multiple committees. Simultaneously, Cross also chaired committees for VAR. In 2013, Cross was honored with the VAR Manager of the Year award and later that same year was named HRRA’s Manager of the Year.  In 2016, she received HRRA’s Code of Ethics Award.

In August 2014, Cross became the managing broker of Long & Foster’s Chesapeake sales office.  In September 2018, she was ready to go back to her roots and became an agent in that office.  Cross stated that she loves the flexibility of being an agent so that she has time to visit with her out-of-town family and spend more time at her Outer Banks beach cottage, Destiny.  Cross truly believes that being a Realtor contributed to her successful career and is a staunch supporter of all things Realtor.
